Are you an HGTV fan? Do you just love watching the zip-pity do-da redecorating and renovations you see there? Do you look around your own home and feel discourage and somewhat dismayed? You don't know where to start, do you? It is simply too daunting; yet it looks so easy. The show tells you HOW to do it all from floor-coverings to wall color. But they don't know your budget, the people you live with , or your level of expertise when it comes to home improvement projects.
I am going to propose that you relax and do a survey of your space. Do you feel comfortable and at ease when you enter your home? Can you sit back and read, watch tv, cook meals for your family and friends? The most important question may be: how long do you plan on staying in this home? If you aren't planning to sell in the near future...relax and enjoy the home you find comfortable.
When I say relax and enjoy the home, I don't mean let it go maintenance wise. That is an entirely different article, but you absolutely HAVE to do the upkeep outside and inside or down the road it will catch up with you. The house will deteriorate with age (just like we do). Click on this link for some handy checklists for keeping up the home and in the process allowing you to stay comfortable in that home.
Save up for projects that will make your home more comfortable. Tear out pictures in magazines and make a scrapbook of ideas you like. Save paint colors, fabric samples, and counter-top chips as appropriate! You will be glad you did!
